How Will They Hear?

What the Bible says about the Need | The Great Commission

The Bible is filled with numerous passages that emphasize the importance of world missions and the need for believers to spread the Gospel to all corners of the earth. Here are a few key verses from the Bible that speak to this crucial aspect of the Christian faith:

  1. Matthew 28:19-20 - "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

This verse, known as the Great Commission, is a call to action for all believers. Jesus commands his followers to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to follow his commands. It reminds us that spreading the Gospel is not an option for Christians - it is a commandment.

  1. Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

This verse emphasizes the power that believers receive through the Holy Spirit and the importance of being witnesses for Christ not only in our immediate surroundings but also to the ends of the earth. We are called to be witnesses of Christ wherever we are, whether that be in our local community or on the other side of the world.

  1. Mark 16:15 - "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Similar to the Great Commission, this verse is a call to action for all believers to go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to everyone. We are not to limit our outreach to our own communities or countries, but to reach out to all of God's creation.

  1. Romans 10:14-15 - "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

This passage emphasizes the importance of sending out missionaries to preach the Gospel to those who have never heard it. Without preachers, people cannot hear the Gospel and without hearing the Gospel, they cannot believe in Christ. This verse highlights the crucial role that missionaries play in fulfilling the Great Commission.

  1. Isaiah 6:8 - "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."

This verse is a powerful reminder that we should be willing and ready to answer the call to missions. When God asks, "Whom shall I send?" we should be eager to respond, "Here am I; send me." This verse challenges us to be open to the possibility of missions and to be ready to go wherever God calls us.

In conclusion, these Bible verses remind us that world missions and spreading the Gospel to all nations is a vital aspect of the Christian faith. As believers, we are called to go into all the world and preach the Gospel, making disciples of all nations. Whether we go as missionaries ourselves or support those who do, let us remember the importance of fulfilling the Great Commission and reaching out to all of God's creation.
