Right Understanding

Sometimes we are quick to accept something as right or truth.

Right understanding requires wisdom. Not just human wisdom... wisdom from above!

We tend to understand things from the stand point of earthly wisdom and we live accordingly. This creates a problem for us since only heavenly wisdom will truly give us the right understanding.

Proverbs 9:1

"Wisdom hath builded her house,

She hath hewn out her seven pillars:"

The Bible says if any man lack wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all men liberally (James 1:5). The book of Proverbs is known as the book of wisdom and tells us of the importance of it in our lives and ministry. In chapter nine verse one, it speaks of wisdom building her house and pillars, speaking of the foundation of the house. For us in the work of God we must realize the importance of wisdom when making decisions, dealing with people and problems and much more. Here we see that wisdom is the foundation of our lives and ministry. If we go into any situation not using the wisdom (understanding) of God we like a house without foundations will crumble and fall by the wayside.

Proverbs 9:8-9

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee:

Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser:

Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

A Wise man will increase his learning. He will even love rebuke because he knows that is what he needs. We should be quick to listen and slow to speak if we want to have right understanding.

Colosenses 3:2-3

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

We desperately need right understanding and that only comes from wisdom from above. We should have our focus in the right place if we are to have the right understanding.
